ERAA medal winners during a competitive meet during the 2022 ERAA Track & Field Season
ERAA will not be running indoor/winter track training for 2023. We will see you all again for our Spring/Summer Track season in 2024. Expect registration to open in March 2024.
East Ridge Athletic Association (ERAA) Track & Field supports the development of area youth runners through training and competition--and facilitates their growth into high school athletes. Recommended age range is from age 7 to 18.
Track & Field can be the root of fitness in many sports and can afford habits that promote good health for a lifetime. Our program will teach fundamental skills for sprints, distance, and jumping. There are no attendance boundaries to participate in the program. Track & Field serves as excellent conditioning for other sports (e.g. soccer, basketball, hockey), helps build confidence and is a great way to reduce screen/couch time!
Two programs offered: Recreational or Competitive
Recreational Track offers practices 2x per week: on Monday and Thursday starting Monday, April 29 at Lake Middle School from 6-7:30pm. Practices will move to East Ridge High School on June 10. The process emphasizes fundamentals, fitness, flexibility and form. If you are new to track or not planning to run in highly competitive USATF or AAU meets, then recreational track is for you. The program is designed to be flexible, and you attend the practices that you can. Athletes will have the option to participate in some low-key, low-stress, recreational meets that have a separate registration. Recreational track registration includes a track uniform and warm-up shirt.
Athletes in Competitive Track practice mx per week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday starting Monday, April 29 at Lake Middle School from 6-7:30pm. Practices will move to East Ridge High School June 10. Practices on Monday and Thursday will be in combination with recreational athletes, while Wednesday practices will be dedicated specifically to competitive track and field athletes who plan to run in USATF and/or AAU-sanctioned meets. Competitive track registration includes a track uniform and warm-up shirt. It is recommended to purchase track spikes. Athletes in this group should commit to participating in as many meets as possible and must participate in AAU or USATF competitive meets. Any new competitive athletes/families will be required to review and sign a commitment statement outlining the athlete's expectations.
You can see the 2024 meet schedule on our ERAA T&F website. Most of these meets have a small fee associated with them ($5.00 - $20.00 per athlete) that must be paid by each participant prior to or at each meet. There is no formal bus/carpools transportation to these meets. It is up to the parents to get their athletes to and from the meets, and to supervise their children during these meets. Coaches are available for your children during practices but may be at a minimum at the meets. Please have your children wear comfortable running shoes and bring a labeled water bottle or sports drink to each practice.
Note: Any athletes planning to participate in competitive meets will need to obtain a membership for the 2024 track season from USATF and/or AAU. These memberships can be obtained from their websites.
ERAA Track Coaches have USATF coaching certifications, are former DI-III college/HS athletes and/or have previous track coaching experience.
Each Family is asked to commit to a minimum of 2 volunteer hours (per Family) for various activities or fundraisers or a family opt-out and pay a $100.00 volunteer fee which will be applied to your credit card payment. Activities include: Equipment set & up and takedown, uniform sizing and distribution, and helping during our home meet. If you opt-out, and you are registering more than one child, you are only required to pay the fee one time.
If you feel this player may need to be considered for Scholarship Assistance for Track, please contact Gerald Denson at firstname.lastname@example.org BEFORE proceeding with online registration.
Important - this program is not the high school team and not the middle school team (those are a different registration). This is a separate youth track & field program which begins early May and continues through the end of July.
