Celebrating the 9 - 0 -1 Fall Season

The team concluded a successful fall season by going 3 - 0 - 1 in the Blaine Fall Cup.  It was a great way to end an undefeated fall season.

Great Start to the Season

A great start to the Fall Season.  Two games, in 90 degree heat with limited subs, and East Ridge came away with two victories.

Vs. White Bear Lake

Against a White Bear team that had a full complement of five subs, East Ridge had a solid 3-1 victory.  Scoring for ER were Zach Kraus, Brennen Featherstone and Drew Tovar.  The Raptors scored the first three goals of the game and played well the entire game.  The 90 degree heat slowed the team down a bit in the 2nd half but still a solid game.  Contributing in goal for ER were (Will, Brennan, Matt and Cayden).

Vs. Woodbury

It was a tale of two halves vs. Woodbury.  In the first half the team played hard but didn't put a lot of shots on net and weren't working the passing as well as they normally do.  The score at halftime reflected the play and the Raptors were behind 2-1.  The lone goal for ER was by Zach Kraus on a nice cross from Cullen Featherstone.

The 2nd half brought a much better result.  Crisp passing, great effort and solid goal-tending helped lead East Ridge to a 5-3 victory.  In a role reversal from the first half, Zach set up Cullen for the 2nd goal of the game.   After that Brennan Featherstone took over and had a natural hat trick with straight goals in the 2nd half to lead East Ridge.   The coaches took goal-tending by committee to an extreme this game with Cullen, Matt, Zach, Cayden, and Drew contributing in net.

Three things struck me about the game....(1) It was a very physical game and despite being smaller in stature, ER did not back down.   (2) With only one sub, and it being 90 degrees, the team played extremely hard (3) Most importantly, the team never got down on each other despite being down.  I am not sure I have heard a game with more "nice shots" , "Nice Pass", "Good Defense" said amongst the team as there was this game.  It was fun to see.

Great Teammates, Coaches, and New History

I was told that the coaches wanted to make our webpage fun and stand-out.  I thought one of the ways to do that would be to submit pictures and/or articles.  Anyone can send something to me and I will get it up on the webpage.

One of the things that I am looking forward to this year is building on the tradition that has started at East Ridge.  Here is a picture from two summers ago and you can see that four of the boys (Cullen, Brennan, Will, and Zach) were on that team then, and are playing with each other now  (the guy in the shades looks familiar also, I just can't qute place him).  Matt S. was also on that team, he is just not pictured.
